The Ekow Mensah Group has investments in Multimedia, Construction, Retail, Finance, Education and IT and is headquartered in Ghana.
Ekow is the Founder & currently the CEO of The African Network Of Entrepreneurs (TANOE), a social enterprise that seeks among other things to assist African entrepreneurs to build sustainable and globally competitive indigenous businesses. TANOE, being self-funded for the past 7 years, currently runs 9 flagship projects namely; Student & Youth Entrepreneurs’ Network (SYENet), The Startup Network, WomanRising, GirlEmpowered, The SME Network, TANOE Institute, TANOEHub, TANOE Media & TANOE Money . TANOE currently manages The Premium Bank HelpStation, an SME capacity building initiative aimed at making SMEs resilient, high growth and globally competitive with an SME Database of over 10,000 SMEs in Ghana.
TANOE holds a membership of over 1750 entrepreneurs across Africa primarily in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Liberia, Kenya and Zambia. Since its inception, TANOE in collaboration with both public and private sector partners such as the Ministry of Trade & Industry, Premium Bank Ghana Limited, MTN Ghana Foundation, Ghana Shippers’ Council, Standard Chartered Bank, Empretec Business Forum, CCML, NBSSI, Star Microinsurance, University of Ghana and many more, has trained, supported and mentored over 3600 entrepreneurs, assisting them to overcome challenges in starting and growing businesses in Africa and providing resources needed such as capacity building, business development advisory services, funding and financial literacy, Branding, Marketing and Networking support and many more.
Through his GirlEmpowered initiative, Ekow has worked with mentors and role models to empower over 500 teenage girls to be independent and confident. Through initiatives such as the GirlEmpowered Conference and the Skills Bootcamp, several teenage girls have been equipped with entrepreneurial skills. Ekow Mensah believes that equipping young girls with entrepreneurial skills add value to them and enables them to make smart life choices and to be independent in life. His passion for women advancement led him to found WomanRising which has for the past one and half years built the capacity of over 300 Women Entrepreneurs and professionals in and around Ghana. Through WomanRising, Ekow trains and equips women to acquire the requisite skills needed to set up, operate and grow their businesses, careers and personal brands. WomanRising through its research curates 4 of Ghana’s most groundbreaking lists namely: the 100 Most Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs in Ghana, 50 Top Corporate Women Leaders in Ghana, 100 Most Influential Ghanaian Women and the 60 Bold Women in Ghana as part of the 2017 International Women’s Day celebrations with theme Be Bold for Change.
Through Ekow’s work with the Startup Network, he has contributed immensely to the capacity building of hundreds of startups in Ghana. In 2016, Ekow, through the Startup Network, instituted Ghana’s most prestigious awards ceremony for Startups known as the Ghana Startup Awards which saw over 1000 startups being nominated, with over 10,000 individuals voting and 16 awards being won with KPMG being the awards statisticians. The Start Network annually puts together and publishes the Top 100 Globally Competitive Startups otherwise known as Ghana Startup Club 100, a coveted ranking of the best performing startups in Ghana. Through the Startup Dialogues, The Startup Network collaborates with various Startup Ecosystem Stakeholders to empower startups with the requisite knowledge and networks to guarantee consistent and sustainable growth.
Being an avid advocate of the practice of entrepreneurship at an early age and the introduction of entrepreneurship in schools, Ekow founded the Student & Youth Entrepreneurs’ Network (SYENet) which annually researches and curates the Top 100 Student Entrepreneurs in Ghana, a coveted list of the most active and inspiring student entrepreneurs who are combining full time education with business. SYENet is active in the capacity building of student entrepreneurs and the introduction of entrepreneurship in various schools across Ghana through its Rock Your World Program.
With Ekow Mensah’s firm believe in the private sector being an engine of massive growth for Ghana’s economy and SMEs being the key players of the private sector, he founded The SME Network aimed at building the capacities of SMEs to be credit worthy, investment ready and globally competitive. As an Independent Consultant & Facilitator with the British Council Ghana, Ekow is engaged annually in the training and mentoring of over 5000 professionals, graduates, youth, heads of schools and teachers in entrepreneurship, business development, career development, IT, Digital Jobs, Education and leadership throughout Ghana through the Barclays Bank sponsored Blazing Trails Program, UKAID sponsored Connecting Classrooms Program, Rockefeller Foundation Sponsored Digital Jobs Africa Program and several others. As a personal development & life coach, Ekow coaches individuals and organizations globally on leadership, career advancement, performance maximization, skills enhancement and start-up and entrepreneurship development. Through his Igniting Dreams Campaign, he has inspired and mentored over 10,000 youth (known as Torch Bearers) across Ghana and beyond to believe in themselves, to relentlessly pursue their dreams and to build the requisite to enable them succeed in life and in business. As a graphic designer and photography enthusiast, Ekow Mensah’s passion for branding is matchless. With breathtaking designs and pictures, he has managed to curve a unique niche for himself.
As a philanthropist, Ekow Mensah has collaborated with and supported several organisations and institutions such as Odomena Foundation, CITI Fm, Consulteen, Enactus and others to provide support through donations and capacity building to the underprivileged and disadvantaged in several communities in Ghana.
